Gibbes Gala and Art Auction, Friday, November 10
(Charleston, SC) – On Friday, November 10 at 7:00pm, the Gibbes Museum of Art hosts the Gibbes Gala and Art Auction at the Hibernian Society. Returning to the Charleston party circuit due to popular demand, the 2006 Gibbes Gala will prove to be the premier event of the season, cultivating support for Charleston’s only art museum. Featuring auctioneer George McNeely of Christie’s, the exciting live auction will consist of seven museum quality works of art as well as unique & luxurious travel experiences. The fete begins with a cocktail hour during which guests can explore the live auction items and sample delectable passed hors d’oeuvres. At 8:00 pm, guests will be escorted to Hibernian Hall’s second-floor ballroom for a sumptuous four-course meal, live auction and entertainment.
One of the most coveted auction items is a week-long voyage on The World, a ship that carries luxury vacation residences to the four corners of the earth. The ship offers a unique travel option for those interested in hassle-free luxury yacht ownership. The Gibbes is delighted to offer a week in 2007 aboard the luxury cruiser which visits too many ports to mention, ranging from the exotic Tunis, Tunisia to London, Britain’s cosmopolitan capital. One lucky bidder will discover that The World is in fact his or her oyster – if only for a week!
The Gibbes Gala and Art Auction is presented by William Means Real Estate. Food, drink and service are sponsored in part by Stephen Duvall Catering, Beaulieu Vineyard and Total Wine & More. Tiger Lily Florist is generously sponsoring the floral design and décor.
