5/9/2007
Mona Kalinsky of William Means Real Estate represented the buyer in the acquisition of The Governor’s House Inn at 117 Broad Street. The new owner, Southern Charm, LLC, will continue to operate the property as a bed and breakfast and no reservations will be affected by the transition. The purchase price was $5,125,000.
Built in 1760, The Governor’s House Inn is considered one of the most beautiful and romantic inns in Charleston and is rich in history. The Inn was once the private home of Edward Rutledge, the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence, who also served as a U.S. Senator and later the Governor of South Carolina. The Inn is listed on the national Register of Historic Places and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1971 by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
